Is ALE complex to install and to maintain ?

We are currently working on infrastructure definition for SAP HCM which has to take in consideration our existing landscape SAP FI/CO. Due to the security and SAP platform management reasons, several senarios are evaluated, In some of them, ALE must be installed between SAP HCM and FI/CO and I would like to get a feed-back on ALE installation complexity and on day-to-day maintenance activities. Is that complex to setup and to maintain? SAP Consultants are saying that's straightforward and that ALE can be neglected, trouble wise. Is that correct ?

Dear Lionel,

Most of customers are using ALE functionality to transfer HR master data to another HR systems or CRM/SRM systems. It is really straight forward as you will read from the online help :
