Attaching documents to Purchase Requisition in create mode?

Former Member

Hi,

I am running ECC5.00.

If using the document management system (DMS), is there any way to configure DMS such that a user can attach a document (e.g. a PDF file) to the requisition in CREATE mode, i.e. during ME51N? Is there anyway to configure the DMS system such that the attachment is required prior to saving the requisition?

Cheers.

Hi,

In the Enjoy Transaction ME21N and ME51N it is possible to attach a

document in the create mode but it is not possible until you save

it can the attachment be viewed.

For your information, it is only possible to attached external

document directly via ME52N or ME22N directly.

All object services require a unique identifier for the object

processed. The Internal Number for a document is used as the key

but this number is not created until the request is saved.

Therefore it is only possible to add an Object such as an attachment

through change mode. Eg......ME52N or ME22N.

I hope this can help you

Thanks for your response Nadia.

Just so I understand your comment:

1. if using the GOS (generic object services), i.e., not using DMS, (me51n - Services for Objects - Create - Create attachment) attaching a document is possible in create mode, but cannot be displayed until the requisition is saved.

2. if using SAP DMS, a document can only be attached in change mode; (me51n - services for objects - create - store business document).

Are there any enhancements or custom SAP programs that can be built to support attaching in create mode for scenario 2? I understand that only once the internal number is created, the attachment can be made, but was wondering if there was anything that could be done to attach in create mode.

fyi...i started another thread under the DMS form group, and received some more answers there, so if you are looking at this thread, I would suggest moving to this thread:
