Stock Take with Batches

Former Member

Dear support,

how do you do a stock take in such a way that you can count items in stock per batch? When you go into the stock take screen there is just the itemcode and the counted amount. There is no reference to the batch or now way to count how many items per batch are in stock.

Is this possible in SAP or not? And if you do the stock take this way and there are items that lose quantity, where do you choose what batch is not in stock?

Hi Clayton,

The stocktake function in SAP is only to count stock quantities, not to report on any attributes of the stock. Therefore, you cannot count quantities per batches.

If there are missing quantities for batch managed items, those can and must be selected at the time of Stock Posting (3rd tab on Initial Quantities, Stocktaking and Stock Posting screen). When you press the 'Reconcile' button, the batch number selection screen pops up and prompts you to choose the relevant batch numbers.

It is of course not ideal because in this case you need to know which batches are missing and so you need to additionally count those batches too, but I'm afraid the current versions of SAP are not able to support such a requirement.

I hope this helps.

Nat
