HI Experts,

One of the load in daily process chain has failed due to short dump(BI system) "system_no_roll" can anyone help how to resolve this.

It is a infopackage with Full upate upto PSA.Generally it brings 6 lakhs records but only 251 records has updated and one more thing the job in source system successfully finished.

In trfc screen(source system) it is showing "unable to fulfill request for 4004 bytes of memory"

musai

HI,

This is due to the insufficient memory in the SAP system. There is no space to allocate for the ROLL Memory, check the tcode DB02 for more details. Ask your basis team to increase the swap space / ROLL Memory size.

Thanks,

Rajesh.

HI,

Initial analysis of the dump shows clearly that it is space problem but if it fails even the size is increased then what is the approach to find out root cause for the same.I want to explore all possibilities regarding this issue before basis team gets back to me.

In ST02 can you explain in brief what is swaps column indicate as i can see few rows with red colored is this indicates anything as i have no idea about this screen.

with regards,

musai.

Hi,

Double click on the red highlighted swap, now click on current parameters.

Here you can see which parameters designates the memory for this buffer area. Once buffer is exceeded it begins to SWAP.

this is not a bad thing unless you are seeing performance problems. Most performance problems are far deeper than this.

You now need to research the overall memory usage and decide whether to increase the parameter and possibly decrease others.

use ST06 as well for overall usage amounts of swap.

There is much to understand but you can start by reading here:
