better understanding of *NEWCOL()

Hi all,

In the transformation file and in mapping section i have to represent some extra fields that are in source (excel) and some more extra fields in the BPC application which are not in common. How can i achieve this. Is this achieved through *NewCol key word?.... can some one help me with this?.
