The installation fails very early, soon after acknowledging the license agreement. This is the error message:
An error occurred while processing option NetWeaver 7.0 SR1 including Enhancement Package 1 > SAP Application Server ABAP > MaxDB > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step :The subkey 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BHDrvx86' does not exist on the 'localhost' host. You can now:
- Choose Retry to repeat the current step.
- Choose View Log to get more information about the error.
- Stop the option and continue with it later.
Log files are written to C:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir/NW701/AS-ABAP/ADA/CENTRAL/.
I am using Windows XP SP3. The comnputer name is koolootoomba1, which happens to be exactly 13, which is the allowed maximum. The user is Koolootoomba and is a member of the Administrators group.
I can tell you that 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BHDrvx86' certainly does exist. I can see it regedit. Maybe it does not have the right values? Exactly how should the registry look like? Can I post a screenshot?
First I tried with the latest Java JDK 1.6. Then I also tried j2sdk1.4.2_19 which seems to be a recommendation, but the problem remains the same.
Is Windows XP SP3 really supported? I can also try Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008
By the way, there are similar posts here, however the registry key in their error message is different from mine.
