Here is a scenario, where the functional guys are adding a field to a R/3 table. Now does this effect BW by anyways ? We do not know if there a datasource built on that table also. Generally when they add a new field, does it effect BW ? If yes, how ? Also note, there is no intention to get the new field to BW side.
Hi Santosh,
If you are not bringing the newly added field in BW, it should not affecBW.
Only modifying R/3 table should not affect BW.
Hope it helps.

Hi Santosh,
If a new field get added in any R/3 table then it don't have any direct impact in the BW side....
It is true that the datasource will extract data from the R/3 tables only.....but it only extracts those fields which are included in the extract structure.......(it is same for both Standard and generic datasource)...
Since you are saying that it is a new field ...it means this field is not yet added in the extract structure of any datasource........which means no impact.....

Hi Santosh
Adding a field to SAP table would not affect BW, as only the SAP provided fileds are pulled in BW by the standard/custom extractors.
Since you also do not require this field in BW there should not be any impact on BW side.

Hi,
-->It will not affect the standard datasources even Custom as well
-->becoz FM fetch only those column's record which are provided by SAP
-->adding any new fields will not affect but will not reflect in you data source until you enhance that data source
-->Regarding Custom data source, it will affect only those data source based on table (mean it will fetch those new columns as well )

Hi Santosh,
I dont think it will have any effect in BW. Only if the field is been added to the DS & if you replicate the same in BW, the DS will become inactive. You will have to activate the DS & the immediate Trans/DTP. Otherwise, i dont see any problem in BW.
