FI posting issue

Hi

I have an employee (employment status = inactive, from sep-2010), for whom I am unable to do the FI posting of the payroll results (regular run) for the month of feb 2011 (ie. my current month). The system is showing an error "Posting balance is not cleared (Period 09/2010 P)".

His payroll results of Dec 2010 (09/2010) was not posted to FI due to same error mentioned above. However I could post his payroll results (off-cycle & regular) of Jan-2011, off-cycle payroll results (off-cycle & regular) of Feb-2011.

Please advise me a way out to clear out this posting issue.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

If it is for one single employee, then comapre his RT with other employees. May be that employee has one or more wage types for which the wage type charcteristics for FI posting is not or wrongly configured. Check out the wage types and the symbolic assignment for that. Also check the GL assignment for that symbolic. And let us know

Seems there are some wagetypes (can be one) are wrongly debiting or crediting. When posting program runs it will balance debit and credit. if not thenit will give this error. GO to payroll result and donwload all the wage types in the RT then compare the wage types with the posting you will find some differences check what are the wage types with these differences.

Hi,

The posting run will always look at previous results before actual results in a retro period (you can see that in the log at the top - it shows the P and A being read)..so if your previous results dont balance then no matter whether you have it corrected for the actual, it wont help.

The only solution I found is to delete the actual results, take the control record back...fix the previous result (which will now be the active one) and rerun payroll. Obviously you have to check that nett pay hasnt been affected.

Didnt find any other way around it...there seems no way to stop the posting run balancing the previous result easily - and even if you find a way around it temporarily its always going to be there waiting for a retro into that month to fail.

Devi.

thanks devi for the input.

I am not able to delete the payroll cluster, because as I said, the earlier periods (jan & feb -offcycle) got posted to FI. So system is not allowing to delete the result.

Do you think, is there any way out?

Thanks.
