How to make selecting the correct catalog codes easier

Former Member

A request from my users is that when you get the pop of box with the proposed codes, whether it be for objects, causes, damages or actions, there be a search function.

For example, letter recognition so if I type in a "B" it goes to the beginning of the "B"'. Has anyone ever tried to do this? How do you make it easy for the technician to select the correct codes instead of the first item they see.

Thanks, Linda

In the absence of such features in this area, we are working this way.

1. Using User Exit QQMA0015 with necessary code to filter the codes C,5,2,A by B.

(Means as soon as you select a code group in B, the other caalogs are filtered to that Code group)

2. Next step, within a code group to easily identify the codes, a code convention has been adopted.

that is, if a damage is there called 'Connection loose' it has been given a code 'CNLS' ,

Similarly Bearing damage (BGDM), Bearing replaced (RPBG).

In such environment, after a short time of working, the users automatically remember the codes, and they either punch, select from spacebar dropdown or from F4 help.

This is working fine.

that doesn't really help, I can get a shortened list with the profile groups, so now within that we want the search capability to be better.

This can be easily managed through search option. Once the tech clicks the field for options, just ask them do select anyone of them and do right click for FIND option. If you give the exact value, it will directly take you to the code. If tech does not know the code, he could probably go with description too. But either of the serach will not work for * but you could filter by two charcters or digits to go to specific series
