Change in the depreciation already posted.

Dear Experts,

We want change in the rate of depreciation from 20% to 10% for a list of asset from 01.04.2010 on book value as on 31.03.2009.

Accordingly I have created new depreciation key of 10% and assigned it to Asset master.

But when Iu2019m running the report (AW01N), I found that old depreciation of 20% was already posted up to 5th period, and new depreciation of 10% is getting adjusted in 6th period.

I need new depreciation to be charged from 01.04.2010.

I know that reversal of depreciation is not possible once it is posted.

Is there any way through which I can get new depreciation from 01.04.2010 itself for my list of assets.

When i'm going for creation of new asset and transferring value of old asset as on 31.03.2010, there also i find that it is showing depreciation from 6th period.

Thanks & regards

Maurya Shantanu

Hi MS

Technically, its not possible to reverse the depreciation posted, nor it is possible to go back and post the dep in Apr 2010 again once you have posted dep till P5

You have 2 options, based on your settings in OAYR (i.e. Smoothing ON or OFF)

1. You have Smoothing OFF it seems... With this, the depreciation gets adjusted in the next period i.e. P6 in your case

2. If Smoothing is ON - The depreciation gets adjusted over P6 to P12, i.e. all the remaining open periods will share the burden

BUT, posting it right in Apr is no longer possible
