LSO: Add a new version of the course to the existing course type

Hi,

We have added a new version of the course(e-learning = ET) to the existing course type(D). The issue is that the persons who have already taken the previous version of the course are not able to take part in this new version of the course though they are able to play it. Should the new version of the course have a new course type or is there a solution to this issue? Your sugestions at the earliest are highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sri

Can you please check the SAP notes 1368851, 1444350 , 1429465.

The fact is that if the date of booking of a learner and then you subsequently update the content on the SAME DAY

the new content will be shown to the learner only on the next day. This is the intended behaviour. For learners booked prior to the date of the content update will see the new content on the same day itself.

If you defined and activated the follow-up process step S G, then the participation will delimited with the confirmation.Learner have to book himself again. If there is a ne version, then he will get the new content.

Deployment of a new version affect the learners who are in the middle of the course, they will get the information about the new version.

Could you please check whether you have set the option 'Delimit Participation(G)' for the course follow up? If this is done, once you perform the follow up the participation is delimited. And when you bring in a newer version of the course, the learner can enroll again.

Hope this helps you.

Best Regards

Hi Chetan,

I am facing the same issue. I have uploaded a new version if course content. when I check the next day, on the overview screen there is a link "Update Required" and when I click on it it takes me to the course page and on starting course content is still the old one.

Is there any settings needed for the contents to automatically display to already booked participants.

This is the intended behaviour from SAP. It is about versioning of the courses. We have solved this in a couple of different ways:

1. If there are minor changes we replace the files directly in content repository (We use KM repository, would be simpler with webdav server with FTP connection). For example a specific picture or new lesson or similar. NB! TEST THIS BEFORE YOU DO IT IN PRODUCTION! Some files are generated by SAP on upload.

2. In some very rare cases we upload a new version since we are unsure if the first way will stick. Then we have opened up for direct changes on the ET objects and change the course content ID manually there. This is not supported by SAP standard and we do it at own risk - by standard the ET object is locked for manual changes by user.

3. If the course is so new it should be taken new all over, we delimit all participations and ask people to do them once more. Very rarely this is done.

It was an authorization issue. It actually worked and new version content is visible to old participants booked.

Interesting - do they keep their progress in the course as well? Including bookmarks? That is the issue for us - that they dont keep their progress.

This depends on the setting in versioning. By default the setting is

Minor Changes - 001 - Automatically retain progress free of charge

Major changes 002 - Manually delete progress fee paying.

Depends on this setting, the progress will be retained or deleted.

Please check this documentation:
