I realise that you've closed this but for information the problem may be file association in windows.

If .swf files have no association the Export Preview does - Export progress bar --> Nothing

However if you associate .swf files with your preferred web browser (in my instance Internet Explorer) export preview then Export Preview goes - Export progress bar --> Opens dashboard export in Internet Explorer

Hope this helps,

Paul

Hi Paul

Thanks for the solution, which seems should work. I'll try it.

Xcelsius user guide should specify that Export Preview would work only when .swf is associated with a browser in machine. Unfortunately, this info is missing presently.

Thanks again..

Thanks, closing this.. but hopefully Xcelsius Product/Program Management takes note of this issue.

Hi,

Check your flash player version, and try to update it with current version.

Hope this might help you.

Are you using a Trial version or Full? This was taken right from the Help, but this also produces no actual .swf for me either (although I am using the Trial):

To export visualization previews

A visualization has been created and is open in your workspace.

If you would like to export an SWF of your visualization to view in a browser, you can export a preview of the visualization.

Click File > Export Preview.

A progress bar opens on the screen.

I'm using full version.

That func. doesn't do anything (unlike what is stated in help docs).

Seems like a gross defect in the product, unless I'm missing something.

Well it appears as if it is supposed to launch a .swf of your dashboard and you can either use that strictly for previewing or you can save it as a stand-alone using File --> Save. So it really isn't anything different from using the Preview button at the top of the application and using File --> Export to SWF. However, I have read that in some instances the Preview can cause Xcelsius to freeze, such as if you were using RSS feeds in your dashboard. But if that's the case, you can always export it to .swf and preview it that way.

It's just an alternate way of previewing/saving, so I would just ignore that function.
