Editing process chains of BW in Redwood CPS

Former Member

Hi All,

I have imported the BW process chain in Redwood CPS (SAP_BW_ImportProcessChains) and ran the same through Redwood (SAP_BW_ProcessChainRun). It was running fine.

Now the requirement is to edit few steps (in sub processes of the main chain) and add new steps in redwood is it possible? (Main reason is to create dependency of sub process with other system job)

I am trying to edit the sub chains but I am not getting any edit option in sub chains to put some dependencies.

Experts need your suggestion on the same and I appreciate if any document or print screen is available to support your suggestion.

Edit the process chain in the SAP and reimport the process chain again into redwoods with overright (Drop Old Matching Values? yes) option and schedule it.

there is no edit option for this in redwoods.

Hi Babu Murthy,

Thanks for sharing your views I really appreciate it. I know that this is the only option but our requirement is to add other system jobs specially the operating system jobs (UNIX/SOLARIS) in between the BW process chain. It is not possible to add the operating system jobs in SAP (if possible please let me know) that is why I want to edit the chains at Redwood level.

Moreover, I am trying to create manual chains in Redwood as same as we have in BW system (but it is too much complicated and I don't think so it will work). Is this a good option? Or any thing else I can do for this?

I think the BW process chain provides basic options like ftp file present check etc.

IF you want the flexibility of a shell script or any scripting language you can split the process chains itself into

manageable pieces and call them appropriately into a job chain and in between insert your OS level jobs.

first you should have license for platform agent and installed on the system you are running the os jobs.

thanks

Babu.

We have license for platform agent and we already some running jobs there. Now we want to add platform agent jobs with BW chains for that we want to edit BW process chain so we can run the platform agent jobs after any sub chain of BW process chain. Is that possible? Or can we create manual chains at redwood level?

And Babu, Is it possible to contact you through chat or on call so I can discuss the same with you?

yes you have to create manual chains.

If the original process chain has 15 subchains/metachains . split them into small process chains.

on the redwoods side create a jobchain call the splitup process chains. whereever you require

to do OS level jobs create job definitions where you create those OS specific jobs

and add them to the redwoods jobchains where required.

in the OS level job definition make sure you provide proper exit codes so it can fail or continue graciously

so the depended next step can get executed or stop depending on its status.
