Hi there...

i know these two ways of validating an user input from a IdM UI (e.g. a text box) and returning status-/error messages (if the input is wrong):

--> (SAP):

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/107aa30f-02e8-2d10-51a3-f39855813b99?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true&52531745110396
(good, but complex for my taste)

--> (Rhidmo):

https://blogs.sap.com/2012/01/26/extension-framework-revisited-input-validation-with-rhidmo/
(very good, but not developed any more)

Are there any other ways, to check an text-input?

Thanks in advance for your answers...

Michael, perhaps if you share your use case, we can give some more specific help.

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt!

We use Rhidmo for some of our UI text-fields to check the user input.Every time a user puts in some wrong data (in example we only want to have 5 letters and the user types 6 letters, Rhidmo Returns a specific (self defined) error message.

Or another example would be our password black/white list we use and Rhidmo checks for our password policy restrictions. If they are not met, the user cannot proceed as long as the restrictions are fullfilled (and the user gets - like the example mentioned above - a certain error message regarding his failure)

There is no specific use case, as i`m asking to change a current (good working, but maybe not supported by the developer any more) solution (Rhidmo) with a (possible) new solution. I´m trying to get an overview about all our options here... Thanks a lot for your time...

Hello Michael,

we use the validation option you can set directly on the attribute itself for those purposes. Sure, no custom error messages, but in most cases they tell clearly, what's wrong (e.g. text too long/short).

Have you had a look at that yet?

.

Regards,

Steffi.

Hi Steffi!

yes, we know and already use this feature of IdM for certain attributes.

But we decided, that customizable messages are very important for us and therefore use mostly Rhidmo...

Thanks for your answer...
