JCO - Gray status

Former Member

Hi

I am trying to configure JCO in Webdynpro Content Administrator, but all buttons are disabled, and status light is gray.

SLD is properly configured (I can test the connection ok).

What else could be wrong?

Thanks

I tested in another server and there was some progress.

At least now I can try to create a JCO connection. But when a click next button to go to second step, there is an fatal error:

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi Ronaldo,

Are you sure that your SLD is correctly started ?

I mean, the status has to be set to : "Started"

Best regards,

Emmanuel.

You are right. It wasn't ok. But it is now.

I had progress. Now JCO connections appear as red ligth, and I can start creation.

But in step 3.2 Message Server Connection, I got the following error message:

There are no message servers maintained in the associated SLD

Any ideas? What is missing now?

Thanks,

Ronaldo.

Probably my problem is authorization.

This is my first time with webdynpro content administrator. As I did not know a valid username, I create a new one...as recomended in tutorial.

I have just tried to logon with user "administrator", but it did not work. There is no message of error that indicates username ou password wrong. It just clean input fields, and stay in the same login form. Very weird!! If I type a wrong password, or wrong username then I got error message "user Authentication Failure".

I tried the username/password that I had created before, and I got same problem. Tried to create a new user and happens again...Basically I cannot login in webdynpro content administrator anymore. What could be wrong now??

Thanks

Hi Ronaldo,

How did you install your IDE ?

In fact during the installation, you should choose a general password for your global installation

So regarding your content adminstation, you should access using "Administrator" and the the password you have chosen during your installation

hope it help you, good luck

best regards,

Emmanuel.

Ronaldo,

"All buttons are disabled" -- do you mean all buttons on the very top of screen (Create JCo Destination, Maintain JCo destination etc) or buttons in-line with JCo destination names (Create / Preview / Edit / Test / Remove)?

If first, then the reson is inproper SLD configuration or insufficient permissions.

If second, then besides security constraints there is yet one issue: WebDynpro Content Administration [WDCA] create invalid pool definition (the last time I faced this was when I were working with SP6)

In latest case, after creating JCo destination in WDCA start SLD administartion app, then go to "Content Maintainance" and choose your destination (my preferable way is set subject to "All with instances" first, then it is simplier to locate "JCO Message Server Destination" / "JCO Application Server Destination", and, finally, select your destination). After choosing your destination you will get into editor screen, where you can fix missing / inproper values created by WDCA. Save, then start WDCA again -- youl be able to view / test / remove your destination. If you try edit it, WDCA brokes settngs again

Good luck,

VS

Hi Valery,

I have similar problem as Ronaldo.

In Webdynpro/Content Admin screen on the Browser, the first two buttons Create Jco Destinationa and Maintain Jco Destination are greayed out for me.

Also, when I get details for WD_MODELDATA_DEST & WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST, the JCODESTINATIOn tab shows with all the buttons greyed out with Status also greayed out.

I used Administrator/password and am able to login without any problem. Is there any way to fix this issue.

Please help.

Hi,

to summarize the discussion:

Behaviour:

The status icons are greyed and most of the buttons are disabled.

Reason:

The Web Dynopro Content Administrator can not get access to the used SLD. You have to check the SLD connection using the Visual Admin. After that restart the Web Dynpro Content Administrator.

If do not have the needed permissions you do NOT get gray status icons. You get an errror message - and nothing else.

Behaviour:

I got a error message, that I do not have the needed permissions to start the Web Dynpro Content Administrator.

Reason:

You need administrator permissions for the J2EE engine.

Behaviuor:

There are no systems available after starting the JCo destination wizard.

Reason: The used SLD does not contain any systems. You have to go to your backend system you want to use. Start transaction RZ70 and maintain the needede SLD connection parameters. You have to start the data import into the SLD after that.

The JCo destination wizard displays only the systems defined in the SLD.

If you need further informations you could have a look to the "How to use the Web Dynpro Content Administrator" document here in the SDN.

Best regards

Jochen

I realize this is too little too late, but here's my input.

For me, the lights being all gray and the buttons being un-clickable meant that the SLD was not running.

You may have CONFIGURED the SLD, and even tested the CONNECTION, but you have to actually start it.

Once I started it, it worked fine.

Though I am now getting the same problem "There are no message/application severs associated with the SLD."

Hi,

1 -> Go to the SLD administration page (/sld) -> administration

2 -> Check the error, (often a bad parameter).

3 -> Correct the error : (click on profile then show ALL)

4 -> Save

5 -> Restart the SLD server via the administration page.

Hi Ronaldo,

only a user with special admin rights is authorized to configure the JCO destinations. Does the current user you are using for login have these rights? Is it the Administrator user?
