I'm looking for guidance on a solution that we developed back in 2005. The solution had the following requirements:
1. Documents be generated (assembled) from a selection of available reports based upon system data.
2. The generated document could be opened as pdf or rich text for editing purposes.
3. Crystal would also be used to deliver reports (mostly canned reports).
The RDC was chosen, at the time, because the .NET solution did not do what we needed.
Going on 6 years later, we are concerned that our .NET application has a portion that is relying on COM and we are concerned there might be an issue as the OS and server software is upgraded. We do not want that to happen.
Likewise, the solution back in 2005 to support editing was really not very good because the output document lost it formatting integrity.
Users would also like to begin using the interactive reporting features that are now available to support filtering and sorting, etc..
I was hoping someone would have a suggestion as to who we could speak to regarding a roadmap or whether we are safe with the current implementation. I would appear that this type of question is really outside the scope of the sales support, which is understandable.
Thank you in advance for any support you can provide. Thanks!
