Dear Experts,

we enter data for the companies in BPC 10.0 Consolidation Model.

I would like to close the period for data entry for future periods.

For Example, I send actual data for period 12.2015. The user can set work status for this period after enter data. But if they go to EPM and change the period to 12.2016 they could saved data also for this period. Is in BPC the possibility to close all periods for data entry by default and and just open the actual period like in BCS?

I would like to clos periods (12.2016, 12.2017, ...)

I want to make sure not to get data in wrong period.

Do someone has a solution for it or can I do it with default script logic?

Thanks

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Maybe you can continue to use the Workstatus functionality for the same purpose....like Keep your intial Workstate as "Locked" where everything is Locked and no manual input allowed...then before starting the planning the user will only open the period for which planning needs to be done i.e "Unlocked" others would be locked! User can enter data into that period and then again freeze it up by changing the workstate to "Submitted".So the workstates would be like

1.) Locked

2.) Unlocked/Start PLanning

3.) Submitted

4.) Approved

I always use this....Hope this helps your case.....

Hi JP,

thanks for your reply, but how do you unlock data entry for the specific period? Where do I say BPC open it for f.e. 12.2015?

Thankd and Regards

If you are using BPF then give a step of Changing the Workstatus...or From EPM Excel you can change the workstatus. Are you well known with the settings of Workstatus?

Not really, it is my first time to set workstatus in BPC. So if you have some document I would be very thankful for that.

Here are some guides....

https://blogs.sap.com/2010/02/16/configuring-work-status-feature-in-bpc-part-1/

https://help.sap.com/saphelp_bpc10_nw/helpdata/en/4c/335371ad165792e10000000a15822b/content.htm

P.S We never make changes to the "Actual" category or version! We copy the data from Actual to Plan category and then make changes.

Hope this helps....Please upvote if helpfull..

Regards,

JP

You can also use custom logic badi in DM package to change work status: https://blogs.sap.com/2013/10/28/how-to-change-work-status-from-script-logic-using-badi/

"Is in BPC the possibility to close all periods for data entry by default and and just open the actual period like in BCS?" - you can lock all time periods manually also!

Hi Vadim,

How can I lock all time periods manually? I would like to lock all periods but I want have just one period open for the version actual for example for data entry.

You can lock all periods for one year in a single step (include Descendants). You will have to repeat it for all years defined in the system (not a lot I assume).

Then unlock the current period.

With badi you can automate it.

So to to understand you, I have to have a Badi for the locking of the periods or just a badi to automate it?

If I do not need a badi, where can I lock all periods for one year in a single step as you write? I would do it then unlock the current period?

Badi is necessary only for automation the process!

Ups, sorry, just checked - include descendants is only for owner dimension... like entity!

Use badi to perform work status change in the loop (for each month)!

P.S. For BPC 7.5 it was possible to set work status in Excel VBA, but not in 10/10.1

Ok, will set the status for all periods in EPM and change it for all Periods which should locked and leave the one periode open. Will see if its worked. Hope it works this way.

You can check work status with

=EPMWorkStatus(,0,D1MEM,D2MEM)

I just want to add REVIEWER to my company dimension, to say owner can make the status submitted and manager can lock it, but I when I want to save I get an error

"Updating of the dimension started
Failed to change SAP NetWeaver BI InfoObject for dimension"

Without screenshots it's not clear what are you doing...
