HI All,

I am Trying to set-up auto import process for SAP MDM 7.1. I have completed the following activity and still i am not able to get the process right, Can any one suggest where am i missing ?

1) I have Created the Remote System With Type Inbound

2) I have Created Port with Type Inbound and attached the Remote System and Import Map to this Port. Processing type is Automatic, Block on Structural Exceptions has value set to "NO" and in staus i have value as HAS DATA. Fomat selected in this port is Excel.

Repository is Up and Running, file is already present in MDM Inbound Folder of this particular Port.

I have manually changed the Username and Password in MDIS under this particular reposity as

Username = Praful

Password - Admin

Above Password is used for logging into repository and so it matches

MDS, MDIS and MDSS are up and running.

The type of file i am trying to import is excel.

Can any one telll me if i have missed any step and if not then what may be the reason that i am not able to start the auto import process.

Thanks for your help and support.

Points would be awarded.

Regards

Praful Kulkarni

irrespective of the support for excel ...

the password is not encripted for username Praful ... make sure you change it in the way SAP recommends - so that you see it in the same way as for the above username in mds

also its best practice to block port on str exception

thanks

Hello Praful Kulkarni

If your user pass is correct and your user has permission for import data.

In automatic mode your mdis periodically check your inbound directory and if it is not empty start import process.

Time interval for checking you can set in mdis.ini

"Interval" varuable.

Hi Praful,

PasswordE for user id-Praful is not encrypted which is reason of import failure.Change your password again and make sure it should be encrypted in MDIS ini file.

Secondly, This is excerpt from reference guide so i don't think MDIS would support excel source file.

"To import data from Access or Excel source files, you must

use Import Manager instead of MDIS, or else convert the files to XML

or text (delimited or fixed width) formats. "

Hi Praful

The Auto Import Process from Excel is very similar with other Auto Import Process of XML type.

Follow this steps:

1 - With your Excel file, create a new map in MDM Import Manager;

2 - Save the map;

3 - Open your MDM Console, select the correct repository, go to Admin area and select "Ports";

4 - Create a new port, with this characteristics:

Name: <Chose a name>

Code: <Chose a code. This code is used to create directory structure>

Type: Inbound

Remote System: <select the remote system when you create your map>

Map: <select your map>

Format: Excel

Processing Type: Automatic

5 - Put one file into Ready folder and check if process is ok

Your problem is that you have set your password manually in the mdis.ini file, in the passwordE parameter.

That parameter is reserved for storing the encrypted password set in the client application.

So delete the passwordE parameter line, and set your password correctly in MDM Console, restart the server, and the automatic import should work.

Hi Praful,

SAP MDM 7.1 version onwards, Automatic import of Excel format is not supported.

Please refer Console reference guide, Page 250:

To import data from Access or Excel source files, you must use Import Manager instead of MDIS, or else convert the files to XML or text (delimited or fixed width) formats.
