Hi Raja ,
PI is the process of matching your stock in sap system to Physical stock in warehouse . In course of system usage there are possibilities that the stock shown in SAP system goes mismatching with actual stock in warehouse .
-- One reason could be minor thefts happening in warehouse ...
In some countries its legal to post the PI after certain period .
General procedure is :
1. Create a PI document : MI01 >> where we mention the information about Material to be PI , Plant , Stock etc
2 . We give this document to Warehouse guy , he will count the stock in warehouse and write this on paper and SAP person will enter this count in system MI04 .
3. After some time we will have to post this PI document which will result in adjustment of stock in Inventory . MI07 ..
Ex : SAP system stock is 100
Warehouse stock counted is : 200
When you will do MI07 : The sap stock in system will be increased by 100 thus willl become 200 and a MM document and FI document will also be posted ....
This is the basic PI process .. Types pf Pi like cycle counting and inventory sampling will follow some advance procedure but underlying principle will be as exlpained
Further details are available over net and SDN .. Please search ...
