Creating or copying a 3.5 DataSource under a 7.0 BW System

Hello,

I want to create (or copy an existing) 3.5 DataSource for a file source system(ASCII File) in an 7.0 BW system.

When I try to create or copy such a 3.5 DataSource in transaction RSDS, there is no option to select the version of the DS whether 3.5 or 7.0.

Can you tell me if there is a possibility to create (or copy) a 3.5 DS in an 7.0 BW system?

thank you for your reply.

Due to compability reasons the DS must remain in 3.5 after creation so the migration option to 7.0 is not needful. Is there no possibility to create new 3.5 DS under a 7.0 BW system?

Sorry I did not read your post correctly.

Yes you can create a 3.x datasource in 7.0 system. But you cannot directly create a 3.x datasource.

Goto infosources in admin workbench --> right-click on your appl component, additional functions, create infosource.

Expand transfer structure and choose your source system from the list. Now go to datasource/tran structure tab and give the list of fields as existing in the flat file in the same order. Maintain transfer rules and activate. This creates the 3.x datasource.

Hi,

You can migrate the 3.x datasource to 7.x from transaction RSDS. But prior to this you would need the migrate the rules.

Give datasource name, source system and choose migrate datasource from the datasource menu. In the dialog that appers choose with export.
