Budget for Work hours

Dear All,

In my project i got a requirement where i need to have budget for Work hours . In current standard system we can do budgeting for cost. Kindly help me whether we can have availability check over the planned hours on activity and also they want to track the changes if any done in budgets hours. Means whenever there is change in work hours client should have a track where they can see whatever the changes done in original hours. Seems like cost planning with different variants. Kindly give your views on same. Feel free to revert back in case of any further clarification.

Please note that the budgeting can only be done on WBS elements and not on activities. Since you are going to plan work on activities and want budget control directly on this i don't think it is possible in the standard system. Why don't you plan some budget on the WBS which has got these activities under it and then follow the standard process of posting actuals?

I seriously feel that you can use the standard functionality that is available instead of going for any kind of development to achieve this.

Did you read sap help on capacity planning and also on work force planning.

You can get change details from change documents, check Tcode SCDO

Hi Abhishek,

Please note that the term budget is used in business most of the cases for the planned value in SAP PS. SAP PS budget is an additional control over plan.

If you take this context it is very well possible to have planned work and compare with actual work in PS, and also you can have capacity planning in PS. From the change documents you can get the details of changes made in case client require the minute details. Other wise you can propose to create project versions time to time for getting the historical data as well as knowing the changes made.

I think in standard system you can't get it.

So if don't have standard you need to work with your ABAP guy:)

I have idea where to start with this requirement.

1. Try to use statistical key figures for posting your work hour budget on WBS elements,

2. Based on some standard raport add to an option to display amount from 1. then your ABAP guy need to make some changes to this raport to count a subtraction between statistical key figure value and work hours from activities connected to your WBS elements.

If this subtraction is equal 0 then your work hour budget is out of stock

In this place you can make some other conditions to check this availability. If you put this raport to job in the background and add option to send emails or fire workflow you will get what you want.

So you need only resolve problem how to track changes in statistical key figure.
