What is the difference between the programs: RSDDTREX_MEMORY_ESTIMATE and ZZ_BIAMEMCONSUMPTION_BW3X and when to use them?

Also how is it different from RSRV >> All Elementary Tests >> BI Accelerator >> BI Accelerator Performance Checks >> Estimate Memory Consumption of fact table index.

All these three shows the same output.

Thank you

Hello Murali,

ZZ_BIAMEMCONSUMPTION_BW3X is required if you want to run the estimate in a BW 3.x system (before you upgrade to BW 7.x and BWA).

Hi,

there is an easy answer:

Have a look at note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1244535">1244535</a>.

The two reports are nearly the same, only the RSDDTREX_MEMORY_ESTIMATE which is a SAP standard report will be updated with your support packages.

If you execute RSRV >> All Elementary Tests >> BI Accelerator >> BI Accelerator Performance Checks >> Estimate Memory Consumption and look at the work processes you will see that the report RSDDTREX_MEMORY_ESTIMATE is executed to estimate the size.

So your right all these methods ending in the same result, because in all ones the (nearly) same report will be used.

One small thing to add to what Jens already said, is that RSDDTREX_MEMORY_ESTIMATE is more flexibale in sense of different parameters allowed, while RSRV check is RSDDTREX_MEMORY_ESTIMATE with predefine settings influencing speed, but as well precision of the estimate.

Cheers.
