SLED without storage location

Hi Experts

Does it make sense to have SLED maintained for materials which are not saved at our storage location. These are all 3rd party goods. Thanks

A standard third-party sales order process does not require a goods receipt, so you have not anything in SAP to check a SLED or to trigger an inspection. Nevertheless you can store shelf life data in the material master as information or even create batches with SLED. There is just no process within SAP that connects and checks this data in a third-party process, this would need to be done manually.

Good point! I was thinking of a “Third Party Logistics”...my bad.

Anyhow, you could need to set up an statistical goods receipts in order to record the delivery of the stock to your customer as a way to keep track of the batches that have been delivered. You might be accountable in case of an issue with the product....

Best regards

Hello,

If the product has a SLED doesn't matter if you store it in your own warehouse or on a 3rd party. If you own them, you are most probably are obligated to keep track of their SLED, you should ask the business.
