Web AS 6.40 sneak preview installation hangs

I try to install Web AS 6.40 sneak preview on My Windows XP machine. However, the installer hangs on this step:

"MaxDB Database Internal Installation (post processing)"

I have checked sapinst.log, sapinst_dev.log and XCMDOUT.log. There is no error message regarding MaxDB in it.

Am I missing something? Is there other place that I need to check?

I am running Windows XP Professional SP1. My machine has 1 GB of RAM and it has a Pentium M 1.6 GHZ CPU.

    Hi,

    This happens when the system is not compatible with the installation requirements.

    The installation would not work with system having 256 MB RAM. Incase of 512 MB RAM, it does work but then it would be too slow.

    Please check your system configuration.

    You can go through the installation prerequistes to be on the safer side.

    Hi,

    Iam also having the same problem when installing WAS.The installation hanged for more than 2 hrs at the same point.Can you please tell me if your issue got solved and how.

    I haver the same problem.

    My log has an error (that happened a few steps before):

    ERROR 2004-09-25 12:19:12

    FSH-00008 A system error occurred when executing function LookupAccountSid. ErrorNo=1332

    Any thoughts? Have you been able to finish your installation?

    My installation is stopped (no activity in task manager) for about 30 min...

      In case anyone could not solve this problem, this is the solution, I found (in this forum).

      Solution(is very very interesting):

      Your <b>password</b> should not have any special characters.

      Well, this has been a very interesting journey(hope to have a rougher journey with the new WAS 6.40, you get to learn so many things, that way).
