Select the option Find download files/select files manually and then Select "link to sp stack applications"

Select your source and target stack and then select the relevent kernel and stuff

and then go to cofirm your package , use the xml file which gets generated.

Make sure you move any existing xml files and use only the new one in EPS/in of the system where you are performing the EHP upgrade.

Sunny,

I meant that we should intiialise the MOPZ and then select the "find download files" option from solman

that takes you to the SMP where you can select the source and target . it doesnt matter if its ABAP+Java

After downloading the files ,move them to the /usr/sap/trans of the server

Uncar all the .SAR and .sar files and they will automatically go into EPS/in

Move all the .SCA files and .xml file to EPS/in

Execute the EHP Installater it will automatically understand the Java and the ABAP part

Only one xml file is required.

Try recreating your xml file and select only the ABAP components deselect all the SCA files in this case so that your xml doesnt contain the Java part . Hopefully you EHPi should understand that you want only the ABAP upgraded.

HI Gerarad,

Kumar ,

the problem is , the EHPi tool will sense that your system is a ABAP+Java system and will show up the Java tab as well.

SAP recommends upgrading ABAP and Java in synch. In your case since you have updated the Java support packages using SPAM. Try just selecting the ABAP components and create the xml file using MOPZ and use that in your EHP upgrade. Hopefully the tool will recognize that you need to have only the ABAP part upgraded since your xml contains only ABAP components .

Dont worry about the Java tab the tool should be in a postion to take care of it.

Let us know how it goes

You can do it for Netweaver system but you cannot do it for ECC system as you will not get ERP patches from SMP.

Thanks

If you want you can force EHPI tool to upgrade only ABAP part and leaving behind your Java part. Check SAP note 1245473. Please find extract from this note:

Dual-Stack Systems Only: Disabling the Java Stack Handling

If you have updated your ERP 6.0 system with EHP4 and later want to install further technical usages for the ABAP stack only, you can disable the Java stack handling. Do not use this option for any other purpose then the one stated above.

This option is available as of SAP EHP Installer 7.00 patch level 18. To disable the Java stack handling, start the installation program by entering the following additional parameter for executing the STARTUP script:

-srvarg=/DSUService/javadisabled=true

The option should work in patch 64 too. Remember its support "AS OF" 18 , meaning 18 and above.

Hi,

As Gerard said, SAP Patches higher release always backward compatible. So, higher release contains the feature of lower release. So, you can use patch 64 and go ahead with your upgrade.

Kumar ,

You have to create the tablespace . Just go ahead and create it .

Its a new tablespace that you have to create

The logfile OTATAB.TXT contains the script to create them

Hi,

Always found the dual stck upgrade through the EHpI a pain in the ass.

Run the Abap in through the EHpi and the Java in through JSPM do not use SDM you will get errors.

Hi,

I don't think so your stack file is correct as target release is lower than source release. Check your stack xml file.

Thanks
