Functional & Referece location

Hi All,

I am new for PM module. Please tell me difference between Maintenance plants & Maintenance planning plants.

and difference between functional location & Reference location.

I have already read SAP PM library.

Please explain with giving siutable example.

Hi Raja,

Maintenance plants are where you can manage technical object and work center i.e responsible for carrying out the work. Planning plant is where you define the maintenance task list, carry out material planning on the basis of BOM (detailed planning will be carried out for maintenance activities).

Following are the difference between the Functional Location and Reference FL:

1) Ref FL is a logical FL and not a physical FL.

2) Cannot install equipment to a Ref FL since it is not a physical location.

3) Ref FL is used when you want to create several similar FLs.

4) Trnx code for Ref FL is IL11.
