presentation "ESA, what it is, why you want it ,..." :

Good afternoon,

Regarding the presentation named " ESA, what it is, why you want it ,..." :

1- we get problems to understand your exemple with the alphabet (we understand that a word is a set of letters but we don't understand what is the place of the business object like customers, orders and wy they are associated as words ).

2- we are not sure to well understand the slide named "the evolution to enterprise service" with 3 boxes

(traditional, web service, enterprise service);

can you send us your comments on these 2 slides

Many thanks in advance & rgds,

Isabelle Bodet

    The technology of webservices is comparable to the letters of the alphabet. They're a good start, but you need words (enterprise objects) and grammar (business processe/patterns) to have a complete language. That's what SAP is building with ESA and Enterprise Services. Using the industry standars WS protocols to build business objects and orchestrate them thru business process models and patterns.

    the point of the second slide you mention is to illustrate that we're moving from proprietary, hard-wired interfaces to flexible, open, standars-based interfaces that will allow you to leverage much more of your landscape for lower cost. THink of it as taking standard web services to enterprise scale.

    I also suggest you watch the SAP TechEd keynote from Shai Agassi and Peter Zencke to get a better picture of the migration SAP is undergoing.
