Unicode Import in the Same Server

Hello,

I will be doing the Unicode Import in the same server.

After Unicode Export and before import, Deletion of /usr/sap and /sapdata(s) will solve my purpose, right?

I need not touch ORACLE_HOME as I would be using the same SID. I am planning not to install the Oracle DB S/w and the patch again.

Please let me know if there would be any issues?

Thanks!

Hi,

the SAP recommendation (as outlined in the Unicode conversion guide) is to do the installation of the Oracle db from the scratch. It might be possible to keep the installation and change some parameters ( I) am not sure about this ...), but this is not documented from SAP side and therefore to be executed on customers own risk.

Best regards,

Hi,

We did this and it was running ok. But you need to change memory and few oracle parameters to consider during import.

Run on sandbox first.

You have other option of installing Oracle 11g and Import on this system. There is no issue while direct import on 11g.
