Splitting the time dimension in BPC - good or bad idea?

Dear Community members,

someone in my project team came up with the idea to split the time dimension in BPC in two dimensions: one of the type u201Etimeu201C containing the time structure/hierarchy of a year (so 12 months, 4 quarters and u201Cfull yearu201D as top-level parent node) and another user-defined dimension that indicates the related year (so has no hierarchy and only contains years).

I have concerns that this may cause problems in BPC.

- Has anybody of you implemented something similar already?

- What are the reasons against splitting the time dimension?

I would be very glad about some feedback.

With kind regards,

Johanna
