I have a lot of Crystal reports that use a VB UFL and run on a RAS server. I now need to use those same reports with JRC. I understand that VB UFLs cannot be used with JRC. Is there any way I can create a Java UFL with the same named functions and install it in JRC and have it understand the Java UFL without modifying the report?
Hello,
You can create Java User-Defined Function Libraries (UFL) that should work with the JRC. I've never tried a migration like you're suggesting, but I would think it should work without having to edit the RPT files. Of course, you'll have to test this to be sure.
Please see the [Java User-Defined Function Libraries (UFL)|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/d0e09b2a-941e-2b10-69b8-e150076d6cc2] document for more information. You can also try additional searching using the Search function in the upper right corner of this page.
Sincerely,

Thanks. This actually isn't a migration, I need to be able to run the same rpt files in both environments. I should have looked at the doc you pointed to me earlier. It clearly shows the functions being defined differently in designer than the VB ones, I can't imagine it working with both. It looks like my only choice it to replace the UFL's all together which will be a huge task for us. It's too bad that they can't make the Java UFLs compatible on both sides, that seems like quite a limitation.
That would be something good to enter into https://ideas.sap.com - with enough votes, it'll draw the attention of Product Management.
Sincerely,
