MSSQL service user

Currently the MSSQL Server runs with the privileges of "Local System" account. - Therefor it is not possible to create a backup job which saves the backupfile to a network directory (only possible if the network directory allows read and write access to every user).

Is it possible to run the database under another account, so that I can share the network directory only to the database user. - The database is used for a sap system (different scenarios: CRM, ERP,....). Can there occur problems when the user is changed, and which privileges must be granted to the database service user.

thanks
