The SAPGUI 7.20 patch level 4 exits unexpectedly without reporting errors since I installed Internet Explorer 9 RC.
This seems to happen in forms with ALV lists? For example, using the transaction SM04
Tested on two computers both with windows 7 64bit
IE9RC removing all comes back to work.
Someone confirm the same problem?

SAP GUI 7.20 Patch Level 5
At me there is nothing o.k.
Already the same problem. Which Release Level of Internet Explorer 9 RC do you have ?
Does it come with the standard update for Microsoft Software ?
Only classic theme is working.
I have to say, that I have german versions installed.

Hello Rainer,
on the german pages from Microsoft was the wrong version of IE9 - it was still the RC. Look at the About dialog of IE9: It must be RTW there, not RC.
You can get the RTW version from link http://www.microsoft.com/ie (wrong one was e.g. http://www.microsoft.com/ie9)
Kind regards,
Martin
So... Today is a release date of IE9. We'll see if MS fixed the problem
Edit: fixed. It works with Streamline theme

Hallo Matthias,
yes, Patch 5 does not solve the issue, as the issue resides in IE9 as stated earlier. MS will fix this issue...

Martin

Hi,
I experienced such issue as well.
classical theme is a workaround but it is not good for me, because in win7, i.e. the read-only field looks the same as the editable field in classic theme.
Anyone know when SAP will delivery sap gui 720 patch 5?
Can SAP GUI use another non-IE based html viewer?
Regards,
Charlie
It´s not necessary to reinstall SAP GUI.
In Windows 7 just make a system recovery (via Control Panel), the Win7 will return to IExplore 8 and replace the dll that is missing.
Best regards for all sapies.

Dear folks,
Yes, SAP GUI has an issue with IE 9 RC, which didn't exist in IE9beta.
We're in contact with MS to solve this issue in IE9. If MS won't fix this behaviour, we try to make a workaround for Patch 5 of SAP GUI 7.20.
As a workaround for the current situation you can switch SAP GUI to Classic Design.
Kind regards,
Martin

I have the same problem. I strongly support the request for a solution.
I use SAP GUI for Windows 7.20 Patchlevel 4, IE 9 RC2 and Windows 7 x64.

I'm pretty sure SAP has already a solution but they don't deliver it until IE 9 is released officially. And it's also a question whether IE 9 will work with a portal or other browser based software.
Give them time - they will have a solution when it's released

well, it seams, there is a simple access violation in mshtml.dll... It looks like MS has to fix it
Everyone is welcome to vote here https://connect.microsoft.com/IE/feedback/details/643974/sap-gui-crashes-after-installing-ie9-rc for the error.
P.s.: The problem is related to Microsoft Browser Control. SAP GUI uses it almost everywhere. To reproduce an error it is enough to login in and press F1 (Help)

I have same issue as well. When I press F1 key in any field or try to open any IDOC status, it shutdown the entire SAP GUI.
I had no issues with IE9 prior to installing IE9 RC.

I have same problem. But IE 9 beta doesn't cause this problem.

I am having the same trouble, but my problem continues even after I uninstalled IE 9, does anyone has any suggestion how to fix this?

Since IE 9 is still not released and hence not tested by SAP you can't expect that this version will work flawlessly with SAPGUI.

Yes. I have same problem.
I upgrade IE from 8 to 9RC. When I execute SE80 in SAP, it will automatically log off SAP. My SAP GUI is also 7.20 with patch 2.
