News Form - How to set ID Value

Hi all,

probably someone can help me - at least i hope ;).

We want to use the standard News XML but we have discovered that if we activate the Approvel Process the Approver gets a notification with the XML ID. Unfortunatly this ID is very cryptical. I would like to link the title to the ID. Or write the value of the title in the ID.

Does anyone know if this is possible and if yes how?

This would be great!!!!

Thanks a lot

Nicole

    Hi Nicole,

if you fill the metadata "name" for the news you get a notification with the name instead of the cryptical ID.

      Hi Olivier,

yes the title is linked to the displayname but nevertheless if you go to the properties of the news item only ID is filled and not the name. But the displayname (title) is shown in a KM Navigation iView.

So therefore we are fine, we just want to avoid that the approver gets a cryptical notification to approve the news item 0643E-345kl.xml (for example).

If i change the notification text i affect also the other notifications for other documents (like word, ppt and so on). Most of them have just an ID which is the document name. So i can not change the text because otherwise i have the risk that the notification is crap for all the other documents.

      Thanks for your help

Just remembered, this problem was fixed as of CM Patch 3 Hotfix 2, see note 738611 :

"Action inbox : The ID of resources was displayed instead of the display name for items to review, approved items and rejected items."

That's why on our portal and Arnold's it works. Update your portal with the latest patches and it should display the name correctly.

    Hi,

yes we did that. And in the KM folder we see the displayname but unfortunatly the notification contains the ID. And i wanted to change that. So that the ID is the displayname. But i guess the ID will be created when i open the XML for News Creation and therefore the ID can not be set. At least i did not find a way to do that. So we wanted to set the ID to displayname too to avoid a approval notification with this cryptical ID.

Do you know how to do that?

    Thanks a lot

    • Hi Nicole,

I think there is a bug in your action-inbox iView, because our action-inbox iView displays resources like that:

      - Documents with only an ID: the ID is displayed

      - Documents with ID and Name: the Name is displayed

      (e.g. 1234-2343.xml = ID, News about something = Name,

then "News about something" is displayed.)

      Best Regards

      Arnold
