Could you please guide me on how to add new Browser Types in the portal?

Thanks

Hi!

Use http://service.sap.com/pam link to access "SAP NetWeaver7.0 Product Availability Matrix" document.

I'm afraid, that only Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox currently supported.

Hello Atul,

thank you to have replied.

The problem i have is the following:

when i am in the master rule collection, before assigning the the destop, i can choose a browser type.

When i click on it, i only have 2 types. I had already seen some portal with more.

My question is how can i add or insert more browser types there so that the user has more selection possibility?

Thank you in advance.

Cheers

Extending the list of available browser types is not possible. I once tried that, opened an OSS and that was the response:

"Actually, as per our development support, there is no a easy way to add(customize) this browsers on "Portal Display Rule Editor". There is no option to customize it.

What can be done [...] request a new feature consulting the steps as per note #11."

In theory SCN is one of the channels to open a development request. You can try Idea Place, in case there is already a portal section.

Hi Tobias,

What is the default number of browser types that shall come in the list with the portal installation?

Isn't this something to do with SP version? Because I can see in total 9 browser types in my portal. I have not ever altered any setting related to the same. If Gilo is having two, that means there must be something that can be done.

You get IE + Mozilla / Netscape and several "mobile" browsers / PDAs. If Gilo is only seeing 2 entries maybe he is on another EHP/SPS.

Of course you can change the browsers, but there is no official way to do so (documentation). The entries should be read from somewhere, can be DB, file or hard-coded.

Hi Gilo,

can you be more clear on your problem?

I think you have tried 'Supported user agent' property of iview and looking for something else?
