Problem in posting PGI

Former Member

Dear All,

I have one scenario, where I am facing a problem in doing PGI :

I am posting backdated entries in SAP, from Legacy system (Tally).

In Tally one Excise Invoice is created for Finish Good of 370 kg. And same is dispatched & delivered to Customer.

Now while posting the same Invoice in SAP I am unable to do PGI, since FG stock is 365kg & my delivered qty (on Excise Invoice is 370 Kg -- Due to Weight difference in Weighing Gauge).

So when I am posting PGI it is giving me error & not allowing me to make the PGI.

Now I want to update the FG stock but Client do not want Account entry to happen. Client only wants FG Stock Qty. to get uploaded (without Value).

Request you to kindly provide expert view & solution for the same.

Regards,

Milind

HI Milind

First of all check in MMBE and MD04 , how much stock is available. If stock is less then you have to do stock posting and accounting entries will also take place. So check wheather any Open Sales orders are there or not for that material. If it is there then close those sales orders and then it is possible to to PGI

Thanks and Regards

Srinath

HI,

My Client is Steel Industry.

Previously they were using Tally for all their transactions. From 1st Jan 2011 they have implemented SAP R/3.

Hence they want to enter all their data and transactions through SAP.

Since the Excise Invoice was already generated in Tally & material was dispatched to Customer, Client wants to have a same Excise Invoice to be posted in SAP.

So in Tally generated Invoice Sold FG qty is 370kg, where as Production FG qty is 365Kg. ( This 370 - 365 = 5Kg difference is because of two different Weigh Bridges installed in the plant.)

Client have 2 Weigh Bridges : (A) Installed in Production / Shop Floor.

(B) Installed at Delivery Gate.

Client always generates the Excise Invoice on the basis of (B) weigh bridge. Hence there is always weight difference in Actual Production Qty and Material Dispatch.

1) What is the inventory UOM = KG

2) What is the Delivery UOM = KG

3) Are you posting the PGI in previous period = For the Current FY 10-11

4) what is the exact error description. = Delivery restricted due to less availability of stock.

Hence I am facing the problem in posting the PGI.

Kindly help on this issue.

There is 2 option.

Try in development / testing.

Option - 1

go to t/code MB1C Select mvt 511 do the receipt and check the accounting entry for the materail document. If there is no accounting entry proceed in production system. Even if there is accouting entry the net impact after PGI is zero. Tty to convience the client as below

Stock account 100 debit

Price diff 100 credit.

After PGI

COGS debit 1100 (earlier stock 1000 + increased stock 100)

Stock account credit 1100 (earler stock 1000 + increasesd stcok 100)

So increased amount on increasing the inventory thru 511 mvt on both B/S and P/L will be cleared on PGI and net effect is zero.

Option - 2

Create the new materail code as non-valuated materails (UNBW) (do not create the accounting veiw) with the same description do the receipt the ienventory thru 511 mvt. Here there will not be the any accounting entry because this non-valuated materail.

Add this materail in delivery and do the PGI.

Hope this will solve your problem.

Hi Siva,

Thanks for your valuable support. I think Option no. 1 will resolve my problem & even client will get convinced.

Hi,

To find the solution need to have the answer for the following

a) What is the inventory UOM

b) What is the Delivery UOM

c) Are you posting the PGI in previous period

d) what is the exact error description.

You can't do PGI for 365kgs & invoice for 370 kgs.

Since stock is asset, why do you want to upload it without value.

Explain your business scenario briefly ?

Hi Srinath,

Thank you for your suggestion. But I have already chek the same and the Stock is less for that FG. My Client want to post the PGI but Client "DO NOT" want A/c entry to happen for additional FG stock.

There are no other Sales orders open for this FG.

Hence my entire SD cycle is pending. I am unable to post PGI, Commerical Inv & Excise Invoice. Also if i skip this entry then my Excise Invoice Range will get changed.

So if you have any other solution please let me know.

Regards,

Milind.
