Hai,

Generally there won't be types of universes upto my knowledge. But if we link 2 universes then we say parent universe as Core universe and child universe as derived universe

Types of tables

1)Directly tables from data base

2)Derived tables

3)aggregate tables

1. Universes are a semantic layer over tables, views, OLAP cubes, BEX queries, stored procedures and so on. They contain no database data, only metadata.

2. Tables will vary depending upon what type of data you are reporting again. You have auto-generating universes against BEX queries, OLAP cubes, etc., whereas the universe designer has some "proper" work to do when working with tables and views. The types of tables will depend upon the type of database - a transaction database will have transaction tables in it that support the business system, whereas in a dimensional model you will have the different types of table that you can have in a dimensional schema; aggregate tables, fact tables, dimensions, junk dimensions, monster dimensions, bridge tables as well as other supporting dimensions like security tables and whatever else is needed to support the universe build.

Hi ramesh,

There is no types in universe.universe is only one type to build scheemas. it is a one type of symantic layer.

the symantic layers are:

1.Universe

2.Bussines view manager

3.voyager

Tables are two types:

1.Fact table

2.dimensional table

derived table: it is the combination of those table objects, created a new table in the universe scheema, not in data base.

All the best.
