Fundamental Process Controlled Workflow Questions

Former Member

I have the following basic questions when it comes to process controlled workflows:

1. Everyone generalizes over this question, but what is the specific difference between 40007953 (SC approval 1) and 40007954 (SC approval 2). Under what circumstance would I choose one over the other?

2. What are all the functions you are allowed to edit during approval, when you're in Approval completion? I know Inquire is one of the functions. It seems like you can't add/delete items.

I'm aware of Note 1277921 - Allow/Disallow to edit fields for approver/reviewer

Hi,

2. What are all the functions you are allowed to edit during approval, when you're in Approval completion? I know Inquire is one of the functions. It seems like you can't add/delete items.

We can make approver to add item in completion process level but not delete..

Also we can make some of the fields editable for approvers before completion via custom development in metadata..

Thanks!!

Hi Bharath,

How can you make approver add/edit items?

In config, I set approval type to approval with completion, and task to SC completion.

When the work items gets to approver's UWL, the approver can NEITHER edit, nor add materials. Only the inquire radio button is available. Is this a bug, or is there additional configuration I need to allow approvers to add/edit.

Thanks!

You don't need to do any additional config for this, rather we need to develop some custom classes and add them to metadata area..

If you review the metadata config part, you can understand very easily..

Thanks!!

Hi,

Refer the below oss note for further information..

The EDIT button shows up for the approver when approval type is approval w/ completion and task is 40007953, NOT 40007952. Is this a bug? Shouldn't it be the other way around since 40007952 is the completion task and 40007953 is the SC approver task?

Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks!

We can't make EDIT button to show up.. But we can open up the required fields for approver when they click the workitem..

This can be done by custom development as I already explained..

Thanks!!

Hi,

If you are using the level type as "Approval with Completion" then you must be used '40007952'. if you are using only "Approval" then you must be used '40007953'.

This is how system works when you choose "Approval with Completion" Approver can see edit button and also change the SC.. keep in mind WF will not restart when the approver change the SC in this process level.

If you choose only "Approval" then you can't make the fields or events visible until you follow the instruction in the OSS notes..

Yes, this is where I need help. I get everything that you're saying, but when I pair Approval with Completion with task 40007952 (completion), the EDIT button does NOT appear for the approver.

Touching no other config, I'm wondering why the EDIT button is not there for me standard. I don't think you need to implement note 1277921, when the EDIT button should be there via standard config. Could this be a security issue?

Thanks for bearing with me.

Hi,

I think, you have choosen the decision type as "Decision for Entire Document" , change to "Item-Based Decision for Entire Document" .. please share your feedback..

It was my ignorance. We actually had a custom development put in place to remove the Edit button.

When the Edit mode is enabled. Is it standard to allow Adding/Deleting of items?

In class /SAPSRM/CL_PDO_DYN_MDA_IT_SC, I don't see add item method.

Hi,

Yes - Approver can edit and add new line items, FYI - system will not restart the workflow..

Hi,

>1. 40007953 (SC approval 1) and 40007954 (SC approval 2).

There is no difference.
