Team Development without JDI

Hello,

I have just started learning about WebDynPros. It seems that the data and control flow information is generated to files ...wdcomponent and ...wdnavigation. Suppose I've got a team using CVS and developers want to work on views of one application at the same time. Could anybody tell me if they have to merge these files after finishing their work or is there an alternative solution?

Thank you in advance and cheers,

Heiko Nolte

I would really recommend you use the JDI for these type of tasks as it includes a nicely integrated solution for exclusive checkouts, synchronizing and conflict resolution built in to the Netweaver Developer Studio.

Using the DTR, anytime you modify a view, the checkout is done in triplets, so within your CVS, any changes that you make to the actual views need to also be checked against the

    view.wdController

    view.wdview

    view.wdview.xlf

files. If the changes are local to the view, the wdcomponent and wdnavigation files do not change.

However, if you perform tasks such as renaming a component or adding new plugs, then the wdcomponent and wdnavigation files would have to be synched with the source.

      Hello Tomas,

thank's for your information. Maybe It would be wise to establish the policy, that only one developer is allowed to work on a certain component at the same time and to split up the Webdynpro App in as many components as possible. This would also leverage reusability I suppose 😊

      Cheers and kind regards,
