Hi
Development system:
When i try to chage a material [MM02] and go to classification view. i want to select a value for a characteristis. I presed F4, i could see possible values for that characteristic. it just has one column showing possible characteristic values
In Other system [Pre production] for same material when F4 is pressed i could see columns like characteristic value, description, Document, Expl etc
User is questioning why layout different in diff systems when F4 is pressed to select a characteristic value
any pointers, please help
Hi There
In MM02-Classification-Values(F4) in the right hand side top corner- You will find the configuration icon- there you can define the layout as you wish,,
if you want to get all the details, click on the administrator-there uncheck the invicible fileds- then you can check all the fiels in both the system,,
Try it out if you have any doubts reply back
Thanks

Thanks for reply, i just checked none of the field is marked invisible in both systems. settings same
i am getting diff layout when i clcked on any characteristic row and pressed F4 to select a value for the characteristic
PreProduction sys: i could see only one column - characteristic values
Developmen sys: i could see columns like characteristic Values, Characteristic descrption, object, Document, Expl etc
Hi
As i said earliar go to the Characterisitics Values- F4 to select the possible values- There click on the Configuration- Point to check is Current Settings and Std Settings,, (if both are Basic settings then fine, If different then in Variant select the Current setting Variant and Click on the administrator) there you will find the Invisible enabled,,
Coz other than there is no way to manage this layout,,
Thanks

Hi Sasi,
In you first message your described what you see in the dev. systam and the pre-prod. system the other way around!
Never mind.
I would suggest you clicking once on the name of the characteristic on the classification view of the material master and then pressing F1. Here you see the whole definition of the charateristic. Do the same in both systems in two parallel windows and compare all the settings. Pay special attention to the tab "Values", the checkbox "Additional values" there and the pushbutton "Other value check". Another tab that can be of special importance is "Addnl data".
As you know, the characteristics can be created in each system independently, i.e. they could have been created a bit differently. It is possible to set up an ALE scenario for copying characteristics data from one system to another one, if you want to be completely sure.

Hi Sasi
Agree with you,, There is a chance to have an authorization issue,,
But hwevr it is there will be an icon (Yellow, white and blue in three lines), you can get this config (for layout) in almost all the screens (like Me21n (item details), CT04 values screen )
Check with the Basis Team/security team to fix this issue,,,
Hope it helps
Thanks

Hi Sasi,
I wonder how your possible values for the characteristic are defined - some kind of check table or explicitly in the definition of the characteristic? In the latter case it can be that the list of values is defined in one system, but not in the other (since the characteristics are created independently in each system) or defined with a wrong language - not in the user's logon language.
