sandbox package

Hi guys,

I created one infoobject in sandbox...then I got prompt to enter package name...I entered $TMP....then it asked for transportable workbench request name....I cancelled that prompt....I have few doubts regarding

1.sandbox is for testing new things...why did I get package name....isnt package we give in D,Q,P systems

2.why do I get Transport request name...is it because we transport from sandbox,by any chance?

3.is it wrong to save it in $TMP package and then cancel 'Transportable Request' prompt without creating one?

Thanks alot for your advice.

Whether you get a prompt for a transport or not is entirely due to how Basis have set up the sandbox. If you cancel the prompt for transport request, the chances are the object won't be saved - or at least , not entirely.

Even though you don't transport from Sandbox you still get those requests as in any system in your landscape...

What I do is create a DUMMY transport request in Sandbox and put every single change in there... Anyway, it's not going anywhere...

You can also ask your Basis guys to check SCC4 and see what settings they have there for Sandbox, although I think you'll still get this prompt...

For the package is the same... $TMP is for local... Since it is included in a transport, you can create, again, a DUMMY package to use in Sandbox for this situation... Or you can use the same you have defined in Dev so you see the same when you go there...

I say it is good to save all your changes in a dummy request so you don't have to worry about any possible impact in the future, which I think you won't have anyways... But let's say it is "cleaner" that way...

Just an idea...
