Databases not show in choose company list

Former Member

Hi All,

Can anyone shed some light as to why the companies are not appearing in the Choose Company List?

Site is running SQL 2008, B1 8.8 PL:12. Databases are visible in SQL Studio and I can log on to any one in the DTW. I have tried most of the solutions that I can find on the Forums but none seems to have provided a solution.

Look forward to response.

Best regards

Earl

I'm experiencing the exact same problem on a server that is comparable to Earl's:

Server 2008 Std

SQL Server 2008 R2 Std

SAP B1 8.8 PL20

Earl, when you indicated you removed and re-entered the server name in Service Manager, can you please elaborate? Are you talking about the server name at the top of the Service Manager window? When I try to remove the server name (highlight it, Delete), nothing happens - ie. it's locked in there and cannot be removed/re-added. Did you have a particular service selected in the drop-down list? Did you remove/re-enter from the Settings or Connection button?

I figured out the problem - I'm an idiot.

I was thinking of the old days when you'd use the client to upgrade the company databases. I forgot to use upgrade.exe to complete the company database upgrade. I'm guessing that in combination with the fact that I hadn't logged on to the company yet (because this is a fresh install) meant that it wasn't displayed in the list.

After upgrading the company db, all is well.

I have similar problem. I already changed the Server Name under License Manager > Setting from the Server Name to its IP Address but to no avail. The companies are still not appearing. What did I miss? By the way I upgraded from 32-BIt SQL Server 2005 to 64-Bit SQL Server 2008.

Bryan,

Try uninstall DTW, and then reinstall it from the package (do not install DTW from server intallation option). Remember to run upgrade after installed.

Hi Phong Dang,

It has nothing got to do with DTW. I cannot see the list of companies when I click Change Company in the SAP B1 Client.

Hi All,

Problem solved. I removed and re-enter the Server Name in the (Service Manager) connecting settings and re-started B1. All companies appeared.

Many thanks to all who provided a response.

Kind regards

Hi Earl,

Do you only get empty list in the Choose Company List? Are the databases upgraded from old version or not?

Hi Gorden,

Just an empty list and the DB's were not upgraded from a previous version.

Hi Earl,

I have come across this issue. Say when you start the db it will not appear in the list. Have you checked in selecting the SQL component in the list and just clikcing on SQL 2005 and again on SQL 2008 in the choose company windowdoes it still not work for you

Hi Earl,

Can you also ensure that one of your companies do not have a character such as ' or % etc as the DTW will fail to load if this is the case.

Hi Earl,

This issue you are experiencing if you click on the refresh nothing will take place to the action . List the SQL type and just change and revert back it will list the databases.

Give it a try

Have you cnfigured security in your license manager? If you have configured trusted connections, you must give user group access to the databases in SQL management Studio

Hi Rakesh,

This is a brand new server and SQL 2005 was not installed on it.

Unfortunately the change server button is missing!

Hi Lisa,

Unfortunately the issue I am having is not related to the DTW. When the B1 client is started the company databases are missing.

The refresh option does not make them appear. The change server button is also missing. This is a brand new server with SQL 2008 & B1 8.8 PL12 installed to it.

Hi Gordon,

Yes, I have now checked the workstations and they are all exhibiting the issue. The choose from screen shows:

SQL 2008

Correct Server Name

I have also checked the 'Configure Security' in the service manager to make sure that the B1SiteUser password is correct and the rest of the settings.

But no companies!

Hi Earl......

First of all let me tell you, the change server button is not available in SAP 8.8 when you login.

You have to set your Server Name in Server Tools->License Manager> Change Security> Enter B1iSiteUses Password--> Give SQL Server Name and give sa and its password.

This will appear your server and its DB list during SAP Login.

Now in order to make it success please check the Microsoft SQL 2008 Native Client is there installed in Client Machine or not.

If not then first install it and then also check whether that PC is in same workgroup or not......

This will make you success........
