Correct my integartion concepts

Hi All,

Please correct my concepts..

1)Is it possible to directly connect to integration server using Adapter engine running on local machine or you still need to connect to an Adapter Engine running on integration server before you get connected to Integartion Sever.

2)Can we use the FTP Adapter type of Integartion Server to pick files from local machine running an FTP server ( without Adapter engine ).

3) I believe using File adapter of Integration Engine, provides access only to local file system of Server and If you want to access other machines file system, it must either be through a File Adapter running on the other machine or HTTP or FTP service running on that machine. Please correct me if I am wrong.

4)The Adapter details you fill in Communication Channel screen corresponds to Adapter running on Integration server only, and not of the local File Adapter you run on your machine. Please correct me if I am wrong.

5)How do I register my local machine as a host for Adapter engine in SLD so that it is shown in Adapter Engine drop down in "Display Communication Channel" screen of Integrtion Builder.

regards,

Mustafa

    Hi!

    > 1)Is it possible to directly connect to integration

    > server using Adapter engine running on local machine

Yes, this is possible but the recommended solution is not to install Adapter Engines on every sending / receiving system but to use the central Adapter Engine on the Integration Server.

    > 2)Can we use the FTP Adapter type of Integartion

    > Server to pick files from local machine running an

    > FTP server ( without Adapter engine ).

    Yes.

    > 3) I believe using File adapter of Integration

    > Engine, provides access only to local file system of

The Adapter Engine on the Integration Server can access files on the local file system or on other machines using FTP. In this case there is not Adapter Engine on the remote machine necessary, only an FTP service needs to be running.

    > 4)The Adapter details you fill in Communication

    > Channel screen corresponds to Adapter running on

    > Integration server only

    Correct.

    > 5)How do I register my local machine as a host for

    > Engine drop down in "Display Communication Channel"

    > screen of Integrtion Builder.

If this is possible it should be in the documentation about decentral Adapter Engine configuration.

No, the FTP adapter starts polling on the directory as soon as the configuration is activated.
