Unplanned Scrap in PP

Former Member

Hi,

I have a query regarding unplanned scrap of FG in Discrete.

Prod order with 10 qty has been confirmed with yield as 8 and scrap as 2.

As I understand correctly scrap of 2 wil be for information purpose as it will not generate anymaterial documents. However it will cause the required componenet consumption on part of scrap.

Now my question is how to proceed with 551 movememt for scrapping of finished good of 2?

If i understand 551 movement type it is moving from unrestricted to scrap which means i first need material to be scrapped in unrestricted stock first?

Should we do GR for 8 or 10?

Do i need to first do GR of 10 and then move 2 to scrap with 551 ? In this case do i need to activate overdelivery against order?

If i need to do GR of 8 then how does moevment type 551 works?

Kindly help guys.

The way my company costs the scrap qty is against the process order.

When closing the PO in COR6 we enter the yield qty and the scrap qty, followed by a reason code. All our PO's have a scrap factor built in - usually 1%.

For example PO 123456 is released for 101kg to yield 100kg. In COR6 we would confirm the yield qty as 100kg and the scrap qty as 1kg. For this PO if we only physically yielded 98kg, then we would enter 98kg as the yield qty and 3kg as the scrap qty.

This way there is no need for us to perform another transaction for 551.

Hope this helps.

Peter.

Hi,

As I understand correctly scrap of 2 wil be for information purpose as it will not generate anymaterial documents. However it will cause the required componenet consumption on part of scrap.--- Yes that is only information purpose

Now my question is how to proceed with 551 movememt for scrapping of finished good of 2?-- Confirm 10 and after that 551 for 2 material

If i understand 551 movement type it is moving from unrestricted to scrap which means i first need material to be scrapped in unrestricted stock first? -- Yes

Should we do GR for 8 or 10? 10 qty

Do i need to first do GR of 10 and then move 2 to scrap with 551 ? In this case do i need to activate overdelivery against order? No need to activate Over delivery

Arun,

If i go ahead with your solutiont hen probably i dont need to report 2 peice as scrap in Co11n because in that case Yiled 10 + 2 scrap would be incorrect.

I think i process the scrap as a yield and then do 551 for scrap once i do the GR.

Hi Rupesh,

How can we do 551 scrap for production order compoenent scrap wrt proudion order in MB1A or MB11?

System does not select any production order component for scrapping when i give 551 as movement type on inital sleection screen and select against order for scrapping option?

How do i determine G/L account and cost center for this crapping and how o i divert this cost to production order in case of compeonent scrap?

Dear,

Yes you can do this 551 but not against the production order. You have to do only against the material directly.

Hope clear to you.

Dear confirm the order quantity as 10 and do the scrap posting in MB1A with movement type 551 against a cost center.

hi,

If you receive 10 and scrap 2 using 551 , you will have to enter the cost object at the time of scrapping. If not the way you have done, the cost difference ( since you consumed material for 10 and produced only 😎 , will be settled against production order. You don't need to activate overdelivery if you want to use option 1 as you will be not entering scrap there.

In short it depends where you do want to charge the cost of scrap decides whether you use production order scrap or 551 movement type. Also whether you need to account scrap material from IM also plays a factor in using IM movement type.

cheers
