ABAP Developer Key

I have registered the abap developer user on the market place and I have got the key, but I am unable to put it into the sap system.

can any one tell me the steps how to install this developer key into the sap system ?

Developer keys are stored in table DEVACCESS.

However - as stated by the previous contributors this table is not updated directly but the developer is asked to enter the key ONCE when changing or creating his first dictionary object.

Developer keys are not deleted from the system when the UMR is deleted (at least not in any version up to ECC 5.0). If you need to do that you have to write a program to update the table directly. The same could of course be done to add entries to the table (if you would like to do that centrally instead of having each developer enter their key).

Just to add further create a custom ZProgram in SE38 it will ask to enter the developer key now copy and past the key here which will be one time late this will not allow you to enter any key for creating programs as per above reply further more System will ask you to enter Object key whenever you are trying to edit now this time you have to register the object at service.sap.com and generate the key specific to that object.

Hi,

There isn't a specific place where the key is to be entered.

Usually, when you are logged on to the system with the User ID and are trying to make changes to a particular object - the developer key for the corresponding User ID is asked for. Then you could enter the key you have already generated.

The key for User ID would be asked only once. Key for object would be asked for the specific object.
