Install errors for mini-SAP

I'm brand new to SAP and trying to get mini-sap installed on my laptop. I have been running into database issues that prevent a clean install of SAP and have now removed all instances of SQL server (Express, 05 and 08). The original errors dealt with sortorders and charsets.

Now I'm getting different but equally frustrating errors - "DBCOMMONDBENV_IND_MSS InternalColdKeyCheck:0 - Please install MS SQL Server before continuing the installation." As soon as I do that, I start getting errors for invalid instanceids and then uninstall and try again. It's a mad circle.

Any recommendations on how to install this?

MiniSAP comes AFAIK with MaxDB as database, not with SQL Server.

Where did you get the DVD?

That actually explains a lot of my issue. The software I've been trying to install came with a book purchased on Amazon, ABAP Objects copyright 2002.

I'm off to find more current install DVD's or downloads.

Why Don't you download the Trial Version from the Download Section of SDN.
