What is the recommended home directory while installing SAP ASE ion Linux.

We are setting up an EC2 environment in Amazon Cloud. I have been using /home/sybase or /opt/sybase as the home directory while installing SAP ASE. EC2 does not provide any kind of raw devices that normally we see under /dev/rdsk directory. Onen of our DBA is currently install ASE software under /sybase and also creating all the ASE devices under a sub-directory of /sybase. I completely disagree with this setting. I would rather have ASE software under /home/sybase and create a separate directory under root or under /dev to have all the ase devices.

What is your recommendation before we start using ASE in EC2?

I would appreciate if you could share other recommendation related to ASE in EC2.

Thank you & regards,
