Sales Area-specific doc type

Hello SDN!

I would like to get confirmation on the following

1. Sales Area can be specified in a Sales document type in SPRO , But this is not a must to use that sales order type to create documents for processing.

2. Sales Area-specific would mean fixing 1 division of product to a particular sales document type. This Limits the sales document type to 1 division only. This means the header and the item level. Any material other than of this division cannot be processed or saved in the doc.

If the above points are true, can I say that this feature is just an option available in SPRO to configure sales doc types and not usually applicable in business scenarios given that a sales document should allow as many types of products to sell as possible. Otherwise, kindly advise the rationale for this feature or function.

regards

Tom

Hi,

1. There are two options; a) If you donu2019t assign sales area to sales document type, the system will consider all document types are allowed for all sales area. b) If you start to assign sales area to Sales document type, you have to assign for all required combination.

2. Sales area specific does not mean fixing 1 division. You have to extend the assignment. For example: 1000 (Sales org) + Dis channel (10) + Division (01) = OR (Document type); follow this for other sales area like 10001002 = OR, 10001201 = OR. Now the system allow to process the material with different divisions.

If you want to control to process the sales order with item wise only, there is one option in Sales document type. In transaction code VOV8, you can access the document type. There is one field u2018Check divisionu2019. If it is empty, it will allow the materials from any divisions; if you set 1, it will warn and allow to process. If you set 2, error message will be thrown. You will be compelled to process materials under one division.

hi,

kindly update the forum

and the main relevanmce to limit the sales document type to the sales area is that the end user does not create a sales order ,

for another sales area in your sales document let for ex-

there is a lsaes area for whole sale and one for retail.

now you have configurerd the ywho sales doc type for whole asles sales area and yret for retail sales area.

now if the user creates the ywho sales order in retail sales area there will be process related problems for despatch guys so in order to limit this error and hassle, there are the ales area specific sales document types and can be configured as earlier told by gurus

revert if helpful

Hi SDN Gurus,

Thanks , I now can confirm that it is NOT A MUST to assign sales area to sale doc type in order to use it.

Cheers!

1 division of product to a particular sales document type

Not so. You can create different materials having different divisions in one sale document type and vice versa. That is why, we assign this division to cross division in VOR2

thanks
