Minimum Password characters.

Hi,

We have upgraded all of our instances of ESO at client site from 4.4 E to 5.1.08 Patch 04.

Now the issue is that previously to give a new password the minimum characters required were 7 and now if users are trying to give 7 characters for new password it says minimum character length should be 10 chars.

Is there a property which I can set to revert it back to 7 chars OR it is not possible at all and I need to change all email templates to say minimum requirement is 10 chars and circulate the message that ESO supports minimum 10 chars for new passwords.

Thanks !

You should certainly check the side of the active directory but as you mentioned it happened when you did the upgrade to a new version so I have the impression that your active directory is not enforcing a certain policy with regards to this and E-Sourcing is taking the lead on this.

Try it (it is very easy), if it work users still have the option to use 10 characters; if it doesn't work you should check the server settings although I think this is not set or it would be have been brought over with the upgrade and your active directory policy settings that you don't have a conflict.

Please let me know the result so I can assist you further on if it is still an issue. If it works close the thread by marking as answered.

Thanks Erik,

It worked.

Rob Burbank thanks for your message in RED and I agree with you and will take care of this thing going forward. But I wish there should be some validation which should check for words if we are asking for quick help and disallow to post. I know there are validations for some of the words and system dont allow to submit the thread with those words in question message. So i guess the same can be implemented here as well.

Hi,

There is a property in the directory configuration which you can access through setup.

1. Go to Setup - section "Configuration" - Directory Configuration

2. You click on your ACTIVE Buy side (or/and sell side if you want to change this too)

3. In the tab "Properties" you add the property "passwordlength" and enter the length (don't forget to be in edit mode)

That's it. There is also a setting on the server level for this but this is the one you certainly can do. It could be that you have to log out to make this effective.

Hello Erik,

Thanks for your reply.

Is this applicable if we are using the Driver as Microsoft Active Directory ?

My bad I forgot to mention that we are using Microsoft Active Directory for authenticating the Buyers and Suppliers.
