Hello Experts,
After going thru many presentations, blogs, articles on TREX, SES, Embedded Search, I feel a bit confused and really not able to understand what is 'SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search'.
Let us look into a few documents to know what they have to say.
A Help document on 'Search and Classification Engine TREX (SAP Library - Search Technology)' states that
...The TREX APIs are not open for customer development. But TREX functions and services can be accessed through the APIs of SAP applications that provide configurable access to TREX services (for example SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search, Embedded Search, Search Engine Service (SES), and Enterprise Knowledge Management)...
Both 'Embedded Search' and 'SES' are part of SAP NetWeaver Application Server (AS) ABAP and there are many help documents available with diagrams showing the overall structure as below
SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search
-
Embedded Search Search Engine Service
-
Search and Classification TREX
This means that with either 'SES' or 'Embedded Search' you require SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search at the top.
Also there is a possibility to use 'SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search' alone to extend the reach of searches across two or more systems. I presume that in this case neither 'SES' nor 'Embedded Search' is required.
So is the SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search that is implemented with SES or Embedded Search different from this SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search.
