Hello SDN!
I would need your help to confirm if my understanding is correct:
1. Address in a customer master is org unit independent. Thus, when its changed, previously created orders will show the change automatically.
2. Weight info in material master is also org unit independent. However, unlike customer master , the same order will not reflect this change done after order creation?
If so, kindly enlighten why this is so.
Thanks.
Tom
Dear Tom,
Yes address is a dynamic data in the customer master which is been updated in the old orders when changed in the customer master as it should be... as per the Business perspective the address should be updated for the followup of Payment etc. The data is stored in the structure ADDR for the records created in VBPA.
For the weights in the material master which are already shipped should not be changed in the transactional data and rather it should not also change as that is sometimes linked to customs requirement also. So the changes made in the weights in the material master will not affect the transactional data of already created documents.
Hope this clears your question

HI,
Once you change the address of the customer master, it won't have any impact on the already created sales orders.

Dear 4 Minutes Tom
Hope you have got the answers, mentioned by our friends here.
Now, your question... WHY?
Just think from business point of view....
A customer is doing business since many months/years. Now, suddenly his address changes. So, ....... the older documents should reflect his current address right.
So, the program logic is mapped to the above requirement.
Which program..... If you ask me.... You should 1st try to find it out.....
Hope , the above helps.

Hi,
If you change the master data record, the old transactional data will not be updated. It means the change in master data will not flow backward to the old transactions. But Address is the only exception. If you change the address of a customer, the old sales document will also show the new address only.

Weight info in material master is also org unit independent
For information, It is at client level and not at sales org level. Just try to change the weight in Basic Data1 and save. Again go in change mode and see Sales: General/Plant view.
